Dream Theater – July 13
Dream Theater might very well be the most well-known progressive metal band around, and for good reason – containing some of the most technically proficient instrumentalists around, Dream Theater has been creating creative and intricately arranged songs since 1985. This quintet will be showcasing their talents on freaky Friday the 13th at the Warner Theatre. Show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $47.50-$57.50
Eat Local First is a weeklong celebration of local food in Washington, D.C. Their goal is to educate and inspire people to eat food local to their area whenever possible. As a part of the kick-off party, on Saturday, July 14 they’ll be featuring music from local acts Young Rapids, Frau Eva, and Typefighter, in addition to great BBQ and sides! Refused – July 16
Swedish punk band Refused reformed earlier this year after a 14-year hiatus, to the delight of punk fans worldwide. Their album, The Shape of Punk to Come, was listed as one of Kerrang! Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Albums of All Time. Fans were initially surprised to hear that the band was getting back together, as their breakup was highly publicized and extremely contentious. They’ll be taking the stage at The Fillmore Silver Spring. Show starts at 8:00pm. Tickets are $30.
Brooklyn based indie pop artist Jon Sandler will be making his way to the District on Thursday, July 19. Sandler, who was recently featured in Billboard Magazine for winning the Hornitos Premium Tequila’s Mariachi Mashup contest. His latest release, Late Night Champ, seamlessly combines various genres to create a rich, unique sound. He’ll be playing at The Black Fox Lounge, located right in Dupont Circle. Show starts at 8:00pm. Tickets are $7.
