He loves to dance and hangout with the crew members. They then face a storm and find ways to push through it to get to the island. They then find treasure! For me, the theme of this book was pushing through tough times and how it's worth it in the end (showing kids hard work is worth it) as well as teaching kids that being different is ok. They initially saw the octopus was scary because he looked different from them, but they got to know him and they all ended up being great friends. I personally picked the book because I thought the illustrations were very cute and colorful, they caught my eye so I bet kids would love picking up such a colorful book. I recommend this book because it's an easy read, fun to look at, and teaches a lesson all kids can understand.

Pete the Cat has proven time and time again to be a children's favorite when it comes to reoccurring characters in books. The preschool that I work at reads primarily Pete the Cat stories and the kids, who very young in age, love them! I have also found that Pete has become sort of an icon on his own to young kids because in my practicum classroom right now, whenever something goes wrong or someone makes a mistake, the teacher simply says, "Well, what would Pete the Cat say?' and the whole class Pete the Cat has proven time and time again to be a children's favorite when it comes to reoccurring characters in books. I have also found that Pete has become sort of an icon on his own to young kids because in my practicum classroom right now, whenever something goes wrong or someone makes a mistake, the teacher simply says, "Well, what would Pete the Cat say?' and the whole class will respond with "It's all good." I like that a lot because I think that is something that doesn't always get taught to kids right away, and then they dont develop the skills that they need to interact with other people and make friends. Pete the Cat will be popular for a long time because of books like this, the character of Pete can be put in almost any situation and there is an immediately new and exciting story for kids to read. I rated this book 4/5 stars because I wanted it to have a high rating for all of the reasons I have previously stated, but this particular Pete the Cat book was not my favorite because I felt that it wasn't as creative as the other stories, so I simply took away one star. But overall, a really great book and an excellent addition to the Pete the Cat saga.

Good story and a quick read It is challenging getting my 8 year old to read different books. This story is easy to read and follow along. It's funny. I read this aloud and added fun voices which made for a good reading experience. I recommend this book for a quick read. It's not very challenging more of a fun story.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Wait, so let me get this straight. Grumpy Toad shares a map to his secret treasure with Pete The Cat and then shares that same treasure with Pete The Cat. What is motivating Grumpy Toad? I don’t trust him.

I've read a few of the Pete the Cat books and this one was just okay. It does have a good meaning within the book. They meet an octopus and are scared of it, but later the octopus becomes their friends. A good way of trying to explain that not all people are scary, not matter how they look.

Pete the Cat is such a cool cat. Even on a pirate ship he can stay cool. When he meets a sea monster his crew is nervous but he finds that this monster is just looking to play a cool beat. They all make music together and have a great time sharing treasure from Grumpy Toad on secret island.
