Suspenseful and breathlessly paced. I could NOT put this one down. Definitely keep an eye out for this book when it publishes in November!

This is genuinely the best piece of writing I’ve read in a very long time. I’m 22 years old and very picky about which shows, movies, or books deserve my attention, but when I like something, I REALLY like something. I could have read Hide With Me in one day, but purposefully slowed down because I didn’t want it to end. My sister and best friend read the book immediately after me and we are all absolutely obsessed (and equally upset that it’s over). Hide With Me wastes no time to get right into the meat of the story. From the beginning, I was hooked. Structurally, I’d say this book is perfect. There is no lengthy/wasteful exposition. Sorboni SHOWS us, rather than tells us, the setting through her rich characters and dialogue. No detail is superfluous. Every word is carefully chosen, and moves the plot forward. Additionally, each chapter is fairly short and switches off between each character’s perspective. Sorboni accurately captures the nuances of young love, and youth in general. In many ways, Hide With Me reminds me of Stranger Things: a small group of kids who have to fight against a powerful and dangerous group of adults (in the case of Hide With Me, it’s a Mexican drug cartel) and as the reader, we root for them, and we believe in them. Peppered in with this thrilling adventure is a budding love story, rooted in friendship. Sorboni somehow perfectly depicts the feeling of a crush, so much so that I myself felt the butterflies that the characters felt when they accidentally brushed hands or shared a smile. Before this book, I had never read or heard of a young adult novel with a Mexican drug cartel as the antagonist. This is what we need! I can’t say enough positive things about this book. It has everything I would want in a book. If you are reading this right now, stop and go read Hide With Me. We need more from you, Sorboni! Write more books!

This book has everything you’re looking for! Romance, check. Edge-of-your-seat suspense, check. Keep you up past 4 AM because you HAVE TO KNOW what happens next, CHECK, CHECK, CHECK! And I’m normally a die-hard fantasy fangirl, but Cade and Jane stole my heart and introduced me to the world of YA thrillers. And it wasn’t just Cade and Jane, I completely fell in love with JoJo’s fiery, confident personality and Matteo’s steady, consistent presence, and pretty much all the friends surrounding the main characters. The friendship comradery is reminiscent of the Court of Dreams in ACOTAR series (SJ Maas) and Six of Crows (L Bardugo)…like I said, fantasy fangirl through and through. If I read a book—and absolutely love it—set in the real world without magic, you know it has to be something special. If you’re looking to get swept away in page-turning action and a tantalizing slow-burn romance, then definitely stop right now and just buy this book! When I look for books, I want to know 2 things: will the story suck me into the world and never let go of me, and will I fall in love alongside my main people, and this book delivers above and beyond on both of these. One last thing, in the moments Hide With Me let me catch my breath, I was lured in by beautiful imagery and poetic sentences and masterful language. Fantastic read, highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed!

I enjoyed this book immensely. The story and creative descriptive writing made for such an interesting and easy read. I read the book in 2 days and could not put the book down. My 15 year old daughter is reading it now and loves it. Such a perfect balance of young love, adventure and mystery. I loved the story taking place in Texas and Mexico with the focus of love and family. I cannot wait to read this brilliant writer's next book.

Hide With Me was a fast-paced YA novel that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Written in a voice that felt familiar, it blended romance, character development, and place in a way that easily transported me to Tanner Texas.

In Sorboni Banerjee's Hide With Me, I experienced a breathtaking snapshot of a life. Hide With me is the most realistic, gritty, and excitingly suspenseful YA book I have read in a while. When Cade discovers a dying girl on his farm, he dubs her Jane Doe and hides her in his barn, nursing her back to health and keeping her safe from the gang trouble she's gotten herself tangled up in. Banerjee carefully crafts her characters' personalities with witty dialogue and layers upon layers of heartbreaking relatable experiences, including those of abuse victims, immigrants, and people who have become all-too-familiar with "the system." The romance at the center of the plot is a forbidden-feeling slow burn, in which friends become more-than-friends and boundaries are respected until the absolute last second - I found myself wondering "how will they get away with this?" more than once! The heart-pounding action of this book will keep you on your seat all the way through, and fans of Breaking Bad will appreciate the crime intrigue and hot Texas summer setting. Hide With Me gave me a fun, invigorating experience I won't soon forget.

I highly recommend "Hide With Me", a book that will be enjoyable to many audiences, if my experience is a guide, and is sure to resonate with young adults in particular. The main protagonists Cade and Jane have deep histories, a coherent set of values, and consistent voices that the author explores through a well-executed, shifting storytelling perspective. A strong set of supporting characters like Jojo and Mateo add depth to the story, and collectively the protagonists face off against a tough and credible adversary (no spoilers here). I felt that I knew where all the characters came from, what they were feeling and why, which made me eager to watch the story unfold. The writing in this book is crisp, artful, and commanding, balancing the descriptive prose that gives life to Tanner, Texas and makes the reader feel present with space for the imagination and the book's energetic pacing. And when it comes to pacing, this story has plenty of it, accelerating from its mysterious start through a series of unpredictable twists and turns, providing a rest only when the characters themselves dare let their guard down. A great read for anyone craving a fast-paced story about young love, friendship, belonging, and bravery.

Nothing is missed in this thrilling debut novel. It's a GREAT READ. It's a MUST READ.

The girl is like a train. After that first line, Sorboni Banerjee’s Hide With Me takes off on a high speed adventure exploring both the light and dark side of life. It’s been a long time since I have sped through a teenage love novel, but I finished this action- packed story in just about two days. It was hard to put down, as it felt like there was always another surprise waiting for me around the corner. Sorboni Banerjee brilliantly weaves three different voices into one complex, but easy-to-follow storyline. It was engaging and unpredictable. Fast paced but the themes and setting are too heavy for YA I think. And while the ending was satisfying it was unrealistic and a dangerous message to send teenagers! Read for popsugar 2018 challenge prompt: A book by a local author
