This is one of the ONLY series that deserves my 5 stars every single time!!! I absolutely LOVED this book!!!!!!!! I'm so in love with all the characters, but especially with Sam and Nick, they are true relationship and couple GOALS!! I had the BEST time reading this book. And lucky me I could read it in one sitting, no interruptions, just me, Sam and Nick and the rest of the cast. I feel almost bad saying it out loud, but I love the FATAL series even more than my beloved JD ROBB In Death series, a This is one of the ONLY series that deserves my 5 stars every single time!!! I feel almost bad saying it out loud, but I love the FATAL series even more than my beloved JD ROBB In Death series, and this is the reason why: I get more time with my favorite couple. The author balances the suspense incredibly well with the romance. It's not just about the case. It's about the main couple Sam and Nick, their dynamic, their life and how passionately in love they are. But it's also about their families, partners and friends. I could gush about this series for HOURS - I'm not kidding!!! But I'm not going to. And since this is book 13 in an ongoing series, me talking about the plot is not going to happen either. But what I can talk about is the way the characters pull me in. Sam and Nick's relationship is incredible. It's exactly how a relationship should work. A give and take, a balance of compromises and hard work. A deep love and respect for each other, unlimited support and an equally unlimited supply of trust. Both, Sam and Nick,  work so hard on being a happy and supportive family, if needed they move heaven and earth to make this happen. It doesn't hurt that they passionately love each other, and it speaks volumes about the kind of relationship they have. Each book in this series, delves deeper into the different relationships between the cast members. With each novel, each character becomes more deeply layered, complex and fascinating. In contrast to JD ROBB, the individual POVs in the FATAL series, allow for a more deeper and meaningful glimpse into the thought process of some of the most important cast members in this series. The connection between reader and cast is so much more REAL and raw at times because of these individual POVs.  At this point all I can say is - READ this series!!! If you are a fan of romantic suspense put Fatal Affair #1 on your tbr. If you love a power couple that kicks ass, is devoted to one another, and understands each other on an incredibly deep level - you must give Sam and Nick a chance!! I have!! And now I'm so in love with this series, and will be binging on it every year.  ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest review. ✵ ✦ ✷ ✫ ✷ ✦ ✧ ✵ ✧ ✵ ✦ ✷ ✫ ✷ ✦ ✧ ✵ ✧ ✵ ✦ ✷ ✫ ✷ ✦ ✧ ✵ ✧ ✵ If you want to chat with me about books, find me on Instagram For more of my reviews: My Blog: Book Twins Reviews Facebook Blog Page Twitter Subscribe to Blog

A brutal home invasion, a double homicide, and an arson. The only potential witnesses are two five year old twins who have been traumatized beyond imagination. Lieutenant Sam Holland has vowed to not only solve the case and find justice for the victims, but to ensure the safety of her young charges. I met so many wonderful people in this book and I'm more than a little annoyed that I haven't read any of the other books in this series. Nick and Samantha have the sort of marriage that every marriage should aspire to be. They're best friends, lovers and partners. Their love is felt in each and every scene, whether they share it or are apart. After getting to know them in this book, I can't wait to see how they fell in love. I'm going to start this series from the very beginning. However, that isn't necessary in order to understand and follow along with this particular leg of their journey. It's one case and a glimpse into the lives of the people who help bring it to a close. This particular book will definitely tug at your heart strings and it will be so worth it! Right up there with the best of them! Such a great story told here - gotta love Sam and Nick, bantering, action, some nasty people, some set backs and new challenges! This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.   The Fatal series is one of the best in this genre and rather unique. Most romantic suspense series are based around something like a police force, security company,  military team or something similar with each book featuring a different couple.  This series is all about the same couple as they progress in their relationship and careers. I like it. I seem to be surprised by where the story goes in each new book. I make assumptions based on the blurb and they were wrong. That's ok.  The key events going on in the story are Nick's trip overseas, a home invasion homicide case, Cruz's wedding and Gonzo's struggle with his partner's death. In Fatal Invasion, as with the previous book, we spend much more time with Sam and her character than with Nick.  Often the female is the key point of view in a romance, but I do feel like I am losing my feeling of Nick's character. His interactions are standard for him with no depth. The primary action and issues here are related to Sam's work though, so his role is more a supporting one.  I am sort of annoyed with Sam's attitude here and in the last few books; I'm a special snowflake so I don't have to follow the rules. The five-year-old twins were a key piece of the mystery and I loved them. I felt for their fears and uncomfortable situations. Sam, Nick and Scotty were amazing with them and it was awesome. I felt so proud of Scotty. Gonzo's difficulties were a layer of realism thrown in like so many things we all experience. In daily life, we have multiple factors, problems, ideas and worries. The wedding was a great time of connection and celebration for co-workers, friends and family. I wish we had more page time with Sam's siblings and her father. Sometime I hope someone will solve her father's shooting.  I enjoy each story as the characters and relationships progress, along with a homicide case or two. I'm attached to these characters for the long haul.   Narration: I've listened to Eva Kaminsky on the last few books in this series.  She is the sound of Sam for me, but she gives a great voice for Nick and the other characters, including the children. Each character has a distinct tone. I was able to listen at 1.5x speed which is new for me recently. Her performance is a pleasure for listening. Listen to a clip:https://soundcloud.com/harperaudio_us...   Excerpt of Chapter 1:  “This is a classic case of be careful what you wish for.” Nick placed a stack of folded dress shirts in a suitcase that already held socks, underwear, workout clothes and several pairs of jeans. Only Nick would start packing seven days before his scheduled departure for Europe next Sunday, the day after Freddie and Elin’s wedding. “That’s the lesson learned here.” “Only anal-retentive freakazoids pack a week before a trip.” Sam sat at the foot of the bed and watched him pack with a growing sense of dread. “Three freaking weeks. The last time you were gone that long, I nearly lost my mind, and I don’t have much of a mind left to lose.” “Come with me,” he said for the hundredth time since the president asked him to make the diplomatic trip, representing the administration on a visit with some of the country’s closest allies. Since President Nelson was still recovering—in more ways than one—from his son’s criminal activities, several of the allies had requested he send his popular vice president in his stead. Sam flopped on the bed. “I can’t. I have work and Scotty, and Freddie is going on his honeymoon for two weeks and… I can’t.” No Nick at home to entertain her. No Freddie at work to entertain her. The next few weeks were going to totally suck monkey balls. “Actually, you can.” Nick hovered above her, propped on arms ripped with muscles, his splendid chest on full display. “You have more vacation time saved up than you can use in a lifetime, and you have the right to actually use it. Scotty will be fine with Shelby, your dad and Celia, your sisters and the Secret Service here to entertain him. We could even ask Mrs. Littlefield to come up for the weekends.” Their son’s former guardian would love the chance to spend time with him, but Sam didn’t feel right about leaving him for so long. However, the thought of being without Nick for three endless weeks made her sick. His trip to Iran earlier in the year had been pure torture, especially since it kept getting extended. “Why’d you have to tell Nelson you wanted to be more than a figurehead vice president?” She play-punched his chest. “Everything was fine when he was ignoring you.” He kissed her lips and then her neck. “You’re so, so cute when you pout.” “Badass cops do not pout.” “Mine does when she doesn’t get her own way, and it’s truly adorable.” She scowled at him. “Badass cops are not adorable.” “Mine is.” Leaving a trail of hot kisses on her neck, he said, “Come with me, Samantha. London, Paris, Rome, the Vatican, Amsterdam, Brussels, The Hague. Come see the world with me.” Sam had never been to Europe and had always wanted to go, so she was sorely tempted to say to hell with her responsibilities. “Come on.” He rolled her earlobe between his teeth and pressed against her suggestively. “Three whole weeks together away from the madness of DC. You know you want to go. Gonzo could cover for you at work, and things have been slow anyway.” There hadn’t been a homicide in more than a week, which meant they were due, and that was another reason to stay home. “Don’t say that and put a jinx on us.” “Come away with me. Scotty will be fine. We’ll FaceTime with him every day and bring him presents. He’ll be well cared for by everyone else who loves him.” He kissed her neck as he unbuttoned her shirt and pushed it aside. “You’d get to meet the Queen of England.” Sam moaned. She loved the queen—speaking of a badass female. “And the Pope. Plus, you’ll need some clothes—and shoes. Lots of shoes.” “Stop it.” She turned her face to avoid his kiss. “You’re fighting dirty.” “Because I want my wife to come with me on the trip of a lifetime? I need you Samantha.” As he well knew, she could deny him nothing when he said he needed her. “Fine, I’ll go! But only if it’s okay with Scotty and if I can swing it at work.” “Yes,” her husband said on a long exhale. “We’ll have so much fun.” “Will we actually get to see anything?” He pushed himself up to continue packing. “I’ll make sure of it.” “Um, excuse me.” “What’s up?” “My temperature after your attempts at persuasion.” A slow, lazy smile spread across his face, making him the sexiest man in this universe—and the next. “Is my baby feeling a little needy?” She pulled her T-shirt over her head and released the front clasp on her bra. “More than a little.” “We can’t have that.” Stepping to the foot of the bed, he grasped the legs of her yoga pants and yanked them off. “Lock the door.” “Scotty’s asleep.” “Lock the door, or this isn’t happening.” With Secret Service agents all over their house, Sam couldn’t relax if the door wasn’t locked. “This is definitely happening, but if it’ll make you happy, I’ll lock the door.” “It’ll make me happy, which will, in turn, make you happy.” She splayed her legs wide-open to give him a show as he returned from locking the door, and was rewarded with gorgeous hazel eyes that heated with desire when he saw her waiting for him. “You little vixen,” he muttered. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “Sure, you don’t,” he said, laughing as he came down on top of her and set out to give her a preview of what three weeks away together might be like. They broke the news to Scotty the next morning at breakfast. “So,” Nick said tentatively, “what would you think if Mom came with me to Europe?” Thirteen-year-old Scotty, never at his best first thing in the morning, shrugged. “It’s fine.” “Really?” Sam said. “You wouldn’t mind? Shelby, Tracy and Angela would be around to hang with you, and Gramps and Celia too. We thought maybe Mrs. Littlefield could come up for a weekend or two if she’s free.” “Sure, that sounds good.” Sam glanced at Nick, who seemed equally perplexed by his lack of reaction. They’d expected him to ask to come with them, at the very least. “Is everything okay?” Sam asked her son. “Uh-huh.” He finished his cereal and got up to put the bowl in the sink. “I’m going to finish getting ready for school.” “Okay, bud,” Nick said. “Something’s up,” Sam said as soon as Scotty left the room. “I agree. He didn’t even ask if he could miss school to come with us.” “I thought the same thing.” “We’ll have to see if we can get him to talk to us before we go—and not in the morning,” Nick said. “I’ll ask Shelby to make spaghetti for dinner. That always puts him in a good mood.” Sam’s phone rang, and when she saw the number for Dispatch, she groaned. “Damn it. You jinxed me!” So much for getting out of Dodge without having to worry about work. She took the call. “Holland.” “Lieutenant, there was a fire overnight in Chevy Chase.” The dispatcher referred to the exclusive Northwest neighborhood that was home to a former U.S. president, ambassadors and other wealthy residents. “We have two DOA at the scene,” the dispatcher said, reciting the address. “The fire marshal has requested Homicide detectives.” “Did he say why?” “No, ma’am.” “Okay, I’m on my way.” Thankfully, she’d showered and gotten dressed before she woke Scotty. “Please call Sergeant Gonzales and Detective Cruz and ask them to meet me there.” “Yes, ma’am.” Sam flipped her phone closed with a satisfying smack. That smacking sound was one of many reasons she’d never upgrade to a smart phone. “You’ll still be able to come with me, right?” Nick asked, looking adorably uncertain. Sam went over to where he sat at the table and kissed him. “I’ll talk to Malone today and see if I can make it happen.” “Keep me posted.” A ringing phone woke Christina Billings from a sound sleep. Two-year-old Alex had been up during the night with a fever and cold that was making him miserable and her sleep deprived. Her fiancé, Tommy, had slept through that and apparently couldn’t hear his phone ringing either. He was due at work in an hour and was usually up by now. “Tommy.” She nudged him, but he didn’t stir. “Tommy. Your phone.” He came to slowly, blinking rapidly. “The phone, Tommy. Answer it before it wakes Alex.” He needed more sleep and so did she, or this was going to be a very long day. Tommy grabbed the phone from the bedside table. Christina saw the word Dispatch on the screen. “Gonzales.” She couldn’t hear the dispatcher’s side of the conversation, but she heard Tommy’s grunt of acknowledgment before he ended the call, closing his eyes even as he continued to clutch the phone. Christina wondered if he was going back to sleep after being called into work. She was about to say something when he got out of bed and headed for the shower. Nine months ago today, his partner, A. J. Arnold, had been gunned down right in front of Tommy as they approached a suspect. After a long downward spiral following Arnold’s murder, Tommy had seemed to rebound somewhat during the summer. But the rebound hadn’t lasted into the fall. In the last month, since his new partner, Cameron Green, had joined the squad, Christina had watched him regress into his grief. He’d said and done all the right things when it came to welcoming Cameron, but he was obviously spiraling again, and she had no idea what to do to help him or how to reach him. Even when lying next to her in bed, he seemed so far away from her. Sometimes, when she had a rare moment alone, she allowed her thoughts to wander to life without Tommy and Alex at the center of it. She loved them both—desperately—but she wasn’t sure how much more she could take of the distant, closed-off version of the man she loved. They were supposed to have been married by now. Like everything else, that plan had been shoved aside to make room for Tommy’s overwhelming grief. It’d been months since they’d discussed getting married. In the meantime, she took care of Alex and everything else while Tommy worked and came home to sleep before starting the cycle all over again. They didn’t talk about anything other than Alex. They never went anywhere together or as a family. They hadn’t had sex in so long she’d forgotten when it had last happened. She was as unhappy as she’d ever been. Something had to give—and soon, or she would be forced to decide whether their relationship was still healthy for her. She did not want to have to make that decision. Only the thought of leaving Tommy at his lowest moment, not to mention leaving Alex, had kept her from making a move before now. She loved that little boy with her whole heart and soul. She’d stepped away from her own career as Nick’s chief of staff to stay home with him and had hoped to add to their family by now. When she thought about the early days of her relationship with Tommy, when they’d been so madly in love, she couldn’t have imagined feeling as insignificant to him as a piece of furniture that was always there when he finally decided to come home. Christina hadn’t told anyone about the trouble brewing between them. In her heart of hearts, she hoped they could still work it out somehow, and the last thing she needed was her friends and family holding a grudge against him forever—and they would if they had any idea just how bad things had gotten. Her parents had questioned the wisdom of her giving up a high-profile job to stay home to care for her boyfriend’s child, especially when she’d made more money than him. But she’d been ready for a break from the political rat race when Alex came along, and she had no regrets about her decision. Or she hadn’t until Tommy checked out of their relationship. This weekend they’d be expected to celebrate at Freddie and Elin’s wedding, and she’d have to pretend that everything was fine in her relationship when it was anything but. She wasn’t sure how she would pull off another convincing performance for their friends. Tommy was one of Freddie’s groomsmen, so she’d get to spend most of that day on her own while he attended to his friend. Dangling at the end of her rope in this situation, more than once she’d thought about taking Alex and leaving, even though she had no legal right to take him. Another thing they’d never gotten around to—her adoption of him after his mother was killed. What would Tommy do if she left with his son? Call the police on her? That made her laugh bitterly. She’d be surprised if he noticed they were gone. Tommy came out of the bathroom and went to the closet where he had clean clothes to choose from thanks to her. Did he ever wonder how that happened? He put on jeans and a black T-shirt and then went to unlock the bedside drawer where he kept his badge, weapon and cuffs. She watched him slide the weapon into the holster he wore on his hip and jam the cuffs and badge into the back pockets of his jeans, the same way he did every day. Holding her breath, she waited to see if he would say anything to her or come around the bed to kiss her goodbye the way he used to before disaster struck, but like he did so often these days, he simply turned and left the room. A minute later, she heard the front door close behind him. For a long time after he left, she lay in bed staring up at the ceiling with tears running down her cheeks. She couldn’t take much more of this.

5 Star Review of Fatal Invasion (Fatal # 13) by Marie Force Since this is book 13 in the series, there is always the concern that the books could get repetitive, however in my opinion this is not the case. This was one of those books I was riveted to from start to finish, I didn't want to put it down as I found myself saying just one more chapter, Nick and Sam are so well suited to each other and their love continues to grow whilst living complicated and at times dangerous lives. This book touched on their family and friends more than the last one and at times had my stomach in knots. Ms.Force still manages to give you not only a book full of twists and turns but the heat and sizzle between Nick and Sam was scorching. You will be drawn into not only their story, but those of their family and friends, as such is the skill of Ms.Force you cannot help but become invested in all of the characters. I always love catching up with Sam, Nick and Scotty and their extended family. Fatal Invasion is full of romance, danger, suspense, humour and plenty of complications to keep you guessing to the end. Fatal Invasion is another great addition to one of my favourite series from Marie Force. I cannot wait to read the next in the series which I believe is Fatal Reckoning which will release on 2019.

Although this newest release is the thirteenth installment in the Fatal series, it can be read as a standalone. Lieutenant Samantha "Sam"  Holland is hoping to go on a foreign trip with her Vice President husband Nick Cappuano when she is called to the scene of a horrific fire which left two people dead. The victims are Jameson and Cleo Beauclair, a wealthy couple who are devoted to their five year twins, Aubrey and Alden. With little known about the Beauclair's personal lives, Sam, her partner Detective Freddy Cruz and the rest of her team are struggling to solve their murders. Their investigation is also hindered by numerous personal issues plaguing the detectives assigned to the case. With so little information to go on, will Sam and her crew find justice for Jameson and Cleo? Sam is dedicated to her career and she is a gutsy detective who does not anything or anyway stand in her way during the investigation. She is utterly besotted with Nick and she is angsting over his upcoming trip which is rather out of character for the tough as nails, independent woman she  is purported to be.  Sam is also quite close to her co-workers which becomes a bit of a problem when one of her detective's problems interfere with his ability to carry out his duties. Torn between being the boss and a friend, Sam is nonetheless supportive of his efforts to straighten out his life. Balancing out this somewhat heavy story arc is the upcoming wedding of another detective. While interesting, this personal drama quickly overpowers the mystery aspect of the storyline. The murders of Jameson and Cleo are particularly grisly and Sam and the rest of squad are determined to find their killer.  Unexpected information from another law enforcement agency takes the case in a new direction, but Sam tries to keep an open mind as they track down leads. Could the murders be linked to trouble from Jameson's past? Or did something in the couple's present day lives lead to their deaths? Fatal Invasion is a fast-paced mystery but unfortunately, the suspense element is completely overshadowed by the drama in the detectives' lives. Some aspects of the storyline are rather far-fetched and although the killer's identity is rather surprising, the resolution of the case falls a little flat.  Marie Force tugs on readers' heartstrings with the emotional scenes with little Aubrey and Alden.  Despite the somewhat predictable wrap up, the novel ends on a heartwarming note. It will be interesting to see what will happen with Sam, Nick and the rest of the cast in the next installment of the Fatal series.

Another satisfying book in a series I love. I really liked the family emphasis in this one and where it takes the second family in their journey.

Loved this one A true novel that really showed the heart of Sam, Nick and Scotty. While their jobs keep them busy, the true heart of who Nick and Sam truly are came blaring through. While I have loved every novel in this series, Marie Force finally hit the nail on the head making this novel more heart and person centered and leaving the sexual aspects as a minor focus. As a reader I was finally so taken in by the honesty of the characters and storyline, that I was able to feel what the characters felt, cry with them, laugh with them, and truly put myself in their places, no nuance, feeling or action was missed. Probably the best, or one of the best, Fatal novels in this series, I look forward to many more like this. Truly heartwarming, real, and beyond engaging and enthralling. Rating: 5+++ ✳✳✳✳✳++

I knew that I had to read this book on a weekend when I didn't have to put it down to go to work! Wow, this book has everything that I love about this series. As the race to find the killer unfolds we learn that Gonzo is in trouble. Christina is fed up with things as they are and Elin and Gonzalez's wedding is a week away. Sam and Nick always in sync are amazing characters who tackle problems head on. They met problems head on and help those who need it. Both Sam and Nick go out on a limb to protect two little children and in so doing it could cost Sam her job. Ms. Force's characters stay with you and the two five year olds are no different. The parents murder was brutal and heinous and not the way I expected it to turn out although that is true of most of the cases that Sam solves. The crimes are almost never committed by the likely subject. This story had twists and turns and lots of action to keep me glued to my seat with my eyes glued to the pages. Ms. Force draws you in and makes you feel for these characters and what they have to endue. My heart broke for the two children. I felt for Gonzo and Christina as they try to find their way after something I never saw coming happened to them. It's all so realistic and her stories stay with me long after I have finished them. I look forward to what comes next, the good, the bad, the tears and the laughs. That's what a good book is all about. Kudos on another fantastic story in the series! I loved it and didn't put it down until I finished it.

Sam and Nick have been through so much in the last 13 books (yes! 13) that any new installment into their life is a plus in my book. They never have a “normal”, easy life due to their job titles (VP of the US and Lead detective and all around Badass). In this part of their life, they are facing many challenges. Her coworker, Gonzo (who has appeared in all the pervious books) is struggling big time from what has happened in previous books and is bottling everything inside. Freddie is marrying his love Elan, in which Sam is the best-woman (which you can imagine how comical that is). Unexpected changes come to Sam and Nick (which will make you cry and give you all the good feelings!!). They are the most amazing couple and can survive just about anything. Sam, as always, is in the line of fire and gets to punch a card on her card for the emergency room. My love for this series extends with every book written. I adore Sam and all her Badassness (my own made up for her) and Nick with all the love and sarcasm so he can keep up with Sam. The plots are amazing in this book and keeps you engaged the whole time. The characters from the past always still have a part in each book so you can keep up with them. I’m anxious to see what happens next from they amazing author. Another great read from Marie Force! You should buy this series and start with the first book (Fatal Affair) and read it from beginning to this book. They are standalone, but you know what their story is if you start form the beginning. You will become a Marie Force addict just like the rest of us!!!

13 books in and this series still has me wanting more! Ms. Force says at the end of every book that she sees no end in sight for Sam and Nick, and I hope that continues for a long while yet. Another masterpiece in this amazing series. As always, I loved every word of Sam and Nick's latest story. It has everything you could possibly want. Fatal Invasion is book #13 in Marie Force's Fatal series and I have to say, the series just keeps getting better. Then you will get the full backstory to each of the amazing characters as well as the hardships they've endured together. One important theme that stands out to me in this series is that family is those who you hold close to your heart, not necessarily just the one you were born into. Well done Marie. I can't wait for more.

Wow, every book in this series gets better. Sam and Nick are amazing. I love that he supports her in everything that she does. Scotty is wonderful. I loved him with the littles. I can't wait for the next book even if I expect it to be very emotional.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This one was different than the others in many ways. Sam: This was the first time I had no issues with Sam. She didn’t go OTT to get her way, she wasn’t a jerk. She was focused and loving, she put family first and didn’t make excuses for that. Nick: As usual he was loving, supportive and incredible. I did feel like he isn’t VP material and definitely gets away with things that wouldn’t be real (changing the length of his trip, telling Secret Service what to do) Gonzo: WOW!! I was surprised by his storyline. I hate it bc it’s totally out of character for him. I’m worried about his career. I was definitely shocked by this one! The book was missing interactions with all the people - Skip, Cela, Tracey/Angela, Farnsworth/Malone. They were there for a second, but very much in the background. Sex was toned down. The relationships were pulled in to shine, instead of sex. I feel like the series is about to go somewhere different and this is the one that changed the direction. I felt like the kids part of this was very predictable and then I was surprised by the killers. I’m left unsure what to expect coming up!

Fatal Invasion by Marie Force 5 Stars After the events of Fatal Chaos, we open this book with Nick getting his wish to "having a seat at the table". He is preparing for a three week trip to visit government officials of our allies. He is trying to convince Sam to come with him - the Queen of England, the Pope and new shoes were all mentioned. This scene is broken by a call - an arson, two murder victims and missing twins are all involved. I won't say anything more about the mystery - no spoilers. There is also an important subplot involving Gonzo. He has big problems and is trying to get through the day by self medicating. This is starting to affect his professional and personal life. The resolution will be painful - physically and emotionally. I give major kudos to Marie Force to tackling this issue, first responders often have problems with what they experience on the job. She depicts this issue with sensitivity and realism. This series gets better and better with each book. Sam Holland is devoted to her profession, but in this book her humanity and compassion shines. Conflict of Interest be dammed. All I can say is I'm glad they have a big house. I can't wait for Fatal Reckoning in 2019. Thank you Marie Force and HTJB for the opportunity to read this book.

Better and Better For someone who thought they would never enjoy a crime thriller/romance, Marie Force proves me wrong every time! Every book captivates me with a new crime and a deeper look into the lives of the main characters. This book was a very warm and welcome look into thr softer side of Sam. She is amazing and tough, but in this book we see the ultimate mom and loving protector she can be. Usually we see Nick be the partner that brings the emotional side of her into visibility. Another great one Marie has done it again! This book is another hit. I absolutely love Sam and Nick, but now there is even more to love. The fatal family is growing and I enjoyed every moment of it. Being from the DC area, I'm impressed at how authentic her locale and info of the area are. It's nice to read a book based in your hometown and you can actually visualize what they are talking about. You won't be disappointed!

Loved This This book gets emotional on many different levels. Marie Force does a superb job of keeping her characters feelings and struggles real in how they play out. I shed tears several times as I read. It's no secret that Sam and Nick are among my very favorite fictional couples. The homocide that Lt Sam Holland has been called upon to investigate is particularly brutal and it comes at a time when the personal lives of some of her team are stressful. But justice must be served so personal goe Loved This This book gets emotional on many different levels. Brilliant yet again! This series NEVER EVER disappoints. When I see a new book in the "Fatal" series is due, I don't even need to read the description before ordering....no need as each and every time the book out does the previous one. Will they finally get the gift they've hoped and prayed for....a healthy pregnancy of their own?

Excellent storyline This is long time coming. Worth the wait. Clearly Ms Force continues to keep you on the edge with small exciting, authentic storyline. The characters are all heart full of emotions. It was great seeing how much time was spent on each of the character's stories with excellent recaps for continuation from the previous novels. Sex was present but not overwhelmingly. Just enough to grasp that their love still had spark. Real down to earth characters. Not flawless by any means.
