I enjoyed the first issue of 'Rainbow Brite' very much, and was looking forward to receiving my copy of issue #2. While I had never consumed any Rainbow Brite media before, and knew nothing of the characters, story, or world, I instantly became swept up and it became one of my favourite new series. Since reading this issue, I can happily say I'm still just as in love with the comic as I was before. Since reading this issue, I can happily say I'm still just as in love with the comic as I was before. Taking off from the previous cliffhanger of sorts, this issue sees Wisp and Twinkle (or Twink, as Wisp affectionately nicknames him) embarking on a journey to Murky Dismal (an ally of the King of Shadows)'s lab, to retrieve the sceptre and belt of Rainbow Brite. Along the way they make quite a discovery, and the last page, completely contrasted with the rest of the book, is truly magnificent, along with the cover. The art for this series is truly lovely, and totally goes hand in hand with the theme of the comic. The panel layouts are also great, but not in a 'I-have-no-idea-which-sequence-to-read-this-in' kind of way, which is really nice. While this issue is really more learning about more of the characters within the world of Rainbow Brite, it in no way felt full of exposition, and I could easily follow and understand the story despite, again, not knowing anything about it. I fully believe that this comic is suited to fans of the franchise and people who have never even heard of it, and for people of any age. I honestly don't think anyone could pick this series up and not enjoy it. If you can, please support this series, because frankly, it deserves it.

I know nothing about Rainbow Brite so I came at this completely ignorant as to who she is, her world, and her history. I’m still pretty ignorant, but I know that I like her. There’s the parallel between the colours of the rainbow producing white light and the importance of accepting diversity for a better world that I’m a sucker for. The artwork is adorable! I’m a fan of Williams’ work from “Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat” and her style suits Rainbow Brite perfectly.
