Her mother always told her not to feed stray wolves... Running a ranch is hard enough, so Makena Laine doesn't need any complications in her life. But the development company that's determined to take her land isn't giving her much choice. They've run off her help, pulled down her fences...and she's afraid they've only just begun. So when she stops alongside the road to assist a cowboy with a broken-down truck, she isn't looking for more trouble, no matter how gorgeous that trouble is. Ethan Grimmson is bigger than any man has a right to be, doesn't say much, and—if she's honest—he’s also a bit scary. Yet considering that she's in danger of losing her ranch...maybe scary is exactly what she needs. If so, that's exactly what she's going to get—in the form of a giant werewolf. Because Ethan’s got teeth and claws, and he’s been hunting a long time, trying to track down the murderers who killed his family—until an irresistible scent drags him straight to Makena's ranch. Eventually, he'll have to rip out his heart and leave her behind; but for now, he'll protect her from the vultures circling her land. Except the threat stalking them is bigger than either could have imagined, and is leading to a showdown that might destroy them both...

A nice romance with a little twist on shifters that is fairly unique.

What I didn’t care for was the tension (not sexual tension) was cranked up so high then They start having sex and for 25% of the book there’s no mention of the story, the threat to Makena and her ranch. It felt like a good story was written and then the author remembered there needed to be sex so she inserted it all into the third quarter of the book.

Well, High Moon was something else... It pulled me into a world of supernatural that truly fascinated me with its complexity and originality. Even though there were some things that I wished ended up differently—more unresolved so there could be another books about these characters—I loved every bit of it. It had fun moments (some were absolutely hilarious), dramatic plot-twists, exciting revelations and of course a lot of interesting mystical and occult information that complimented the story pe Well, High Moon was something else... I received a free copy of this book and gave it an honest review.

Okay read I tend to really like paranormal romance books but this one didn’t do it for me. I found it pretty dry and boring. I lost interest multiple times. The lore seemed on the silly side and the complete lack of shock by people when ‘-kins’ were revealed was disappointing. I also didn’t like that the H never overcame his need for vengeance by using the h’s love as an anchor. Instead he was always prepared to leave her indefinitely, even to the very end. I did like that the h was mixed racially Okay read I tend to really like paranormal romance books but this one didn’t do it for me. I found it pretty dry and boring. I lost interest multiple times. I liked other books by this author, but this has too much meandering in the story, and I felt as if I was told way too much. It seems to be based on Nordic mythology - so shifters, fae or witches, but frankly the characters bored me.

I have read other books by Kati, but this one just couldn't hold my interest. I had a hard time finishing it. For me the story just seemed too drawn out. Maybe it's because it wasn't like other shifter books I've read. it was too different. Not sure.

WOW-OMG - OK now thats out of the way let me tell u what i thought, this has to be one of the best PNR books i have ever read, yes it drags on a bit but that is a good thing as the reader get more of an idea who the characters are and what they are about. Ethan is hunting the killer of his kin - the best way to describe him is wolf-skin warrior - he comes into to town and catches a familiar scent while looking for clues via another murder that happened, that leads him to makena, it takes a while WOW-OMG - OK now thats out of the way let me tell u what i thought, this has to be one of the best PNR books i have ever read, yes it drags on a bit but that is a good thing as the reader get more of an idea who the characters are and what they are about. Unlike other shifter books i have read there is no mention al all about mates fated or otherwise, which i like, ethan just feels drawn to makena by her scent, they also dont just jump into bed together, but when they do , oh boy it is good, the slow build up is well worth the wait, i also love the fact that ethan is not a shifter, the only thing that came into my mind when i read what he looked like when he changed (apart from the examples given in the book) was the wolves from dog soldiers, there is also the small problem of some tainted silver that is a really big problem for ethan but luckily also the bad guy, this is the first PNR book i have read from kati and will 100% be reading more, so if you love a good cowboy romance with a paranormal twist then i couldn't recommend this book more, so plz even though it takes a few chapters to really get going give it a try you wont regret it

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I really liked this story. It was suspense and love. The h guarded her heart so they did not jump into bed right away (it was maybe around 60 percent). She knew Ethan was not staying because he was out for revenge but he did say that he was coming back. This is what was hard for me to wrap my mind around, he was already looking for revenge for 11 years, so yeah how long is she going to have to wait for him. This is all my thoughts but not necessarily a reason not to read this book. It is safe, h I really liked this story. It was suspense and love. He didn't understand the pull that he had to the scent but wanted to look for the killers so he ignored the pull. The h had one night stands but not much described. I'm glad we got a little look into their future. Hope the author continues with stories like this.

This has a lot going for it - mixed-race heroine, great hero character who isn't an asshole, and a different take on some PNR mythology (it seems to be based on Norse myths). But I did think it lost its way at times, with a lot of repeating and I tended to skim a lot in the middle. I also thought it was all tied up a bit too nicely in the end (view spoiler)[the baddie who was after the heroine also being the baddie the hero was after, enabling him to stay with the heroine without having to make This has a lot going for it - mixed-race heroine, great hero character who isn't an asshole, and a different take on some PNR mythology (it seems to be based on Norse myths). This author truly knows how to tell a story! I was so engrossed in this story that I didn't even mind that early morning bed time plus the book hangover. The characters a so well written, they have depth and are real! Its as if these were real people (with shifting exceptions), and I was reading their love story. The plot was well developed and thought out. I loved the action mixed with the thoughts. It really helped me become "one" with the story. Its more then a lover story, however. Interesting take on werewolves, but very overly descriptive. No spoilers. The premise of this book is actually really interesting, and the character development was good. However, I personally can't handle writers going over board with descriptions. It was like she finished writing, decided she wanted a longer book, and expounded on every description she had to add length to the book. 3.7 stars. The love story at the center was classic Kati Wilde, with an alpha sexy cowboy and always an intelligent, compelling heroine to admire and love. That said, the magical backstory for the (non-shifter shapeshifters...) wolfkin - with ropes and chains and a God’s bony hand - got a tad cumbersome at times. Still waiting for Stone’s story (Wilde’s MC series) but this will help hold me over.

Shifter Romance I saw Alexa Riley share a post on Facebook about Kati Wilde’s new book. I have read all of her stories since discovering her!! Kati has a way with words & her stories keep you entertained, hot & bothered, & hooked to find out how it’s going to end. I loved this book. I’ve always liked shifter romance stories but this one is a little different. The explicit scenes are so detailed, you need to keep a fan on 😉

A love stronger than magic Wow, just wow!! Kati always makes me fall in love with her characters.....Ethan and Makena are very easy to love. The slow build up, the smirks, grins and laughter. The way he holds her face and kisses her like he is staying forever.....how could one not want that for themselves. This is a beautiful love story that made my heart sigh and smile at the end. Beautiful, beautiful 💕💕

Immersive, Funny, Sexy Standalone Paranormal Romance High Moon is low(ish) angst and super sexy with great contemporary world-building and incorporation of Norse mythology. It has laugh-out-loud humor, solid pacing, and lead characters I adored. I particularly loved the depiction of Makena’s mental and emotional processing upon learning what Ethan is along with the truth about her history.
